FAQ

Commonly Asked Questions

Why do I need a licensed UAV Pilot?

The FAA Requires anyone who flies a drone to hold a Part 107 certificate to operate a drone for compensation. This includes working for yourself.

I have a drone and can fly it myself for free.

While you can fly for recreational use only, if you fly for compensation you fall under a commercial license and without the proper licenses and registrations. Criminal penalties include fines up to $250,000 and three years in prison.

Do UAVs have rules to follow?

Yes, flying a drone is sharing the airspace with manned aircraft. There's rules and regulations to keep everyone safe.

Why are you charging so much to fly a toy?

While it may seem like a toy, the UAVs owned by HiTech Imagery are no toys. The equipment needed to conduct proper and safe flights range in the thousands of dollars as well as the licenses, registrations, insurance, and travel fees associated with working at your site.
